Norwegian Frostad wins debut gold medal at 2026 Olympic Games in highly competitive big air final

The final of the men's bigeye competition took place at the 2026 Olympic Games. The results determined the medalists of the Olympics.

12 freestylers who passed the qualification for the 2026 Olympic Games reached the final of the competition. The leader after the qualifying round was American freestyler Mack Forehand, who scored 183.0 points.

After the first attempt, Norwegian freestyler Tormod Frostad took the lead, scoring 95.25 points for his jump. With this result, he was ahead of his closest competitors, Mack Forehand and Birk Ruud, by 0.25 points.

Frostad managed to improve his result in his second attempt, for which he scored 97.00 points. Forehand came in sole second place after the second attempt, receiving 95.00 points for his jump, while the top three were rounded out by Austrian Matej Svanzer.

After the third attempt, none of the freestylers managed to improve their results enough to enter the fight for the medals. Instead, Austrian Swanser scored 96 points for his jump, improving on his first attempt and the freestyler's total points amounted to 191.25 points.

In the fight for Olympic gold, Forehand and Frostad improved on their second-place scores, scoring 98.25 and 98.50 points respectively. In a thrilling final, the Norwegian emerged victorious.

Thus, Frostad won his debut medal at the Olympic Games. Before that, the athlete's best result was 12th place in the big air at the 2022 Olympics. The Norwegian also became 12th in slopestyle during the 2026 Games.
