
Manchester City won the central match of the 33rd round of the English Premier League – beating Arsenal 2:1. Thanks to this result, Man City moved one win closer to first place.
The central match of the 33rd round of the Premier League was the confrontation between the championship leaders – Arsenal and Manchester City. The Gunners came into the confrontation in first place with a six-point advantage over their nearest pursuer, and therefore had a chance to break away from the “citizens” in the standings.
However, the match began with a goal for Man City: in the 16th minute, midfielder Mateus Nunes passed to Ryan Sherkey, who from the edge of the penalty area shot exactly into the bottom left corner of the Gunners' goal. The City's advantage lasted less than two minutes: Arsenal responded with a goal by Kai Havertz.
Man City took the lead again after the break. Erling Haaland scored the winning goal in the 65th minute of the match – 2:1.
After defeating the league leaders, Man City closed the gap to first place to just one win, with one game in hand.
