Former Ukrainian number one Kalinina repeated her longest winning streak in her career: how did it happen?

Ukrainian tennis player Angelina Kalinina repeated the longest winning streak of her professional career. In the semifinals of the WTA 125 tournament in Dubrovnik, the Ukrainian won her 14th consecutive victory.

In the semifinals of the WTA 125 tournament in Dubrovnik, Kalinina faced Slovenian tennis player Tamara Zidanšek. The athletes played head-to-head for the second time in two weeks: before that, they met in the final of the Challenger in Antalya, where Kalinina won.

Kalinina completed the first set in 28 minutes, without giving up a single game to her opponent — 6:0. However, Zidansek was able to equalize the score, winning the second set — 6:4.

In the decisive third set, Kalinina won three of the four opening games, making the score 3:1 in her favor. Despite this, the Slovenian restored parity in the match, taking the next two games, but Kalinina was able to seize the initiative and, thanks to a three-game winning streak, end the match with a victory.

The victory over Zidansek was Kalinina's 14th in a row, the longest streak in the tennis player's career. The Ukrainian first reached this mark in 2021, winning tournaments in France and Hungary.

During the series, Kalinina won two titles, both in Antalya. The last time the Ukrainian tennis player lost in the same Antalya in early March was to Japanese Moyuko Uchijima in the tournament final.

Kalinin will be able to update her personal record in the final match of the tournament in Dubrovnik. The Ukrainian's opponent for the trophy will be the 170th racket of the world Andrea Lázaro Garcia from Spain.

The match between Kalinina and Garcia in the final of the WTA 125 tournament in Dubrovnik is scheduled for Sunday, March 29.
