Chelsea has the right to terminate Mudryk's contract due to doping case with payment of half a month's salary

English club Chelsea may terminate the contract with Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk, The Athletic reported.

Mudryk was banned for four years by the English Football Association, the maximum possible punishment. The FA charged Mudryk with violating anti-doping rules in June 2025. However, it was not until April 2026 that the Ukrainian was sentenced.

As reported by The Athletic, standard contracts for English Premier League footballers contain a clause on “serious disciplinary misconduct.” The use of prohibited substances, due to which Mudryk was banned for four years, falls under this definition, as stipulated by the rules of the English Football Association. Thus, Chelsea will have the right to terminate the contract with the Ukrainian, using this clause of the contract.
