Boxer Khyzhniak wins Ukraine’s third gd of 2024 ympics

Ukrainian eksandr Khyzhniak has claimed a gd medal in the men's 80 kg boxing event at the Paris 2024 ympics.

The 29-year-d resident of Ptava defeated Nurbek Oralbay of Kazakhstan in the final, Ukrinform reports.

Khyzhniak took silver at the ympic Games in Tokyo in 2020.

President Vodymyr Zelensky congratulated the Ukrainian boxer on his victory.

"Another gd medal for Ukraine at the ympics in Paris! Boxer eksandr Khyzhniak has taken the first place. Thank you for your strength, your confidence, and for this important victory! We continue to support all our athletes. We cheer for Ukraine, we cheer for Ukrainians!" Zelensky wrote on X.

In official medal standings, Ukraine is in the t 20 with three gd, two silver and three bronze medals.

The ympic Games in the French capital will end on August 11.
