The Ukrainian volleyball team “Barkom-Kazhany” won its fourth victory in 2026 in the Polish Plus League: they beat “Chelm” in four sets.
Barkom-Kazhany started 2026 with three consecutive losses, but then had a three-game winning streak in the Polish championship. In particular, during this period, the Lviv team beat two of the three medalists of last season: the reigning champions LUK Lublin and the bronze medalists Proekt Warszawa, played by another Ukrainian, Yuriy Semenyuk.
Barkom-Kazhany's winning streak was interrupted in the match against Zawerczye, losing in three sets. However, they won again in the next match, beating Helm.
The Bats won the victory over “Chelm” in a strong-willed style: they started the match with a defeat in the first set (22:25). However, the next three games ended in a victory for the Ukrainian team – 25:16, 25:21, 25:22.
The most productive player of the match was the playmaker Lorenzo Pope with 19 points. 17 and 16 points were scored by the diagonal Vasyl Tupchiy and another playmaker Ilya Kovalev, respectively.
For “Barkom-Kazhany”, this is only the second victory in the Plus League season, not achieved in a tie-break. The first time they managed to do this was in November last year – then they did not give up a single set to “Proekt Warszawa”. In total, “Kazhany” has seven victories in 21 matches.
The win over “Chelm” allowed “Bark-Bats” to temporarily rise to 11th place in the Polish championship standings. The Lviv team has the same number of points as “Kuprum” and “Chelm” (20 each).
Barkom-Kazhany's next match will be against Belchatow on Wednesday, February 25. And the next day they will play against Yastrzębski.
