Antoine Griezmann will leave Atletico and move to the USA after the season: he is the best scorer in the history of Madrid

Atletico Madrid and France forward Antoine Griezmann will join Orlando City, the American club announced on its official website.

The 35-year-old French forward's deal runs until the end of the 2025/26 season and runs until the end of the 2027/28 campaign with an option to extend for a further season. Griezmann will join Orlando City as a free agent.

Griezmann will move to Orlando after 17 years in the Spanish league. The Frenchman began his career in Spain with Real Sociedad in 2014, after which he also played for Atletico and Barcelona.

It was with Atletico that Griezmann had the most successful period of his career: winning the Europa League in 2018 and reaching the Champions League final in the 2015/16 season. And with the Madrid team, he also became the top scorer in history: scoring 211 goals in 488 matches.

Griezmann will become the fourth Orlando City player to have experience playing in Europe's top-five leagues, joining left-back Adrian Marin, who played in Spain's La Liga, Paraguayan defensive midfielder Bryan Ojeda, who played for Nottingham Forest in England, and former Borussia Dortmund player Marko Pasalic.

In the 2025/26 season, Antoine Griezmann played 43 matches for Atletico in all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing 4 assists.
