6/6. Johannes Klebo set the absolute record for victories at a single Olympics

Norwegian skier Johannes Klebo has set an absolute record for victories at a single Olympics. The 29-year-old athlete has six victories in six starts at the 2026 Olympic Games.

On Saturday, February 21, the final men's cross-country skiing event at the 2026 Olympic Games took place, the 50 km mass start. 65 athletes took part.

The main favorite going into the competition was Norwegian skier Johannes Klebo, who had five gold medals at the 2026 Olympic Games. The 29-year-old athlete won all the races at the Olympics.

At the start of the race, Klebo held on to the lead group, holding second place for the first five kilometers of the race. Until the 17.8 km mark, the Norwegian maintained his place in the top three, less than two seconds behind the leader. As a result, he finished the first half of the race in second place.

Klebo's main competitor throughout the race was his compatriot Martin Løvström, who spent most of the race in the lead. At 48.6 km, Klebo was only 0.1 seconds behind Løvström.

As a result, in the last meters of the distance, the 29-year-old skier managed to overtake his compatriot and finish the race with a victory, winning his sixth “gold” of the 2026 Olympic Games.

No athlete in the history of the Winter Olympics has won so many gold medals in a single Games. And that record remains unbroken.

With his victory in the mass start, Klebo increased his Olympic gold medal tally to 11. The skier now has 13 medals at any Olympic Games, and the 29-year-old needs three more to break the record for most medals at a Winter Games.
