In the Poltava region, a 30-year-old female is suspected of abusing two younger sisters, for whom she served as a custodian. As per the inquiry, as a form of correction for consuming sugary goods, she compelled the 13- and 16-year-old girls to remain kneeling for 48 hours without nourishment, restricted their rest, and physically assaulted them. The Prosecutor General's Office communicated this information, UNN reports.

In the Poltava region, under the procedural direction of prosecutors for juveniles, a case involving the abuse of 16-year-old and 13-year-old girls is under examination. According to the probe, their 30-year-old sister-caretaker made the minors stand on their knees for a couple of days without food, while also limiting their sleep and basic needs.

In September 2025, the girls ingested sweets without authorization. As a consequence, the caretaker scattered buckwheat and salt in a corner and forced the minors to kneel. They were also struck with a metallic shoehorn, which caused marks and grazes on their bodies and heads.

When the female was not present, the girls absconded. Law enforcement officials located them in Poltava, following which the victims were questioned at the Barnahus specialized center.

Following the outcomes of the evaluations, the guardian was notified of suspicion of abuse (Part 1 of Article 127 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The guardian has a duty to furnish the child with the required circumstances for existence, learning, and maturation, to safeguard their entitlements and concerns. Contrarily, in this scenario – the guardians of the two sisters are shielded from illicit actions by prosecutors for juveniles. The law affirms every child’s entitlement to independence and personal security. Furthermore, discipline and structure within the household should be founded on mutual admiration and exclude any belittling of the child’s honor and worth

As directed by the Prosecutor General, the prosecutor’s office augmented the protection of children: 45 interdepartmental teams were established, 281 children’s institutions and 722 familial forms of upbringing were assessed, and investigations were conducted on in excess of 26 thousand children.
