Over 20,000 Russian crimes were recorded in the Kyiv region during the Great War

Since the commencement of the full-scale Russian incursion into Ukraine on February 24, 2022, investigations have been initiated within the Kyiv region concerning 20,359 unlawful acts within the scope of 4,528 legal proceedings, classified under Article 438 of Ukraine's Criminal Code (transgression of the ordinances and practices of warfare). Following investigative outcomes, 152 Russian invaders have been formally notified as suspects concerning the perpetration of war-related offenses within the Kyiv region. Accusations have been lodged against 109 invaders. To date, 22 Russian invaders have received sentences involving varying durations of imprisonment.

Russian military personnel also annihilated or compromised 20,504 infrastructural elements of civilian utility within the Kyiv region, encompassing:

  • 19,993 residential properties;
    • 221 educational institutions;
      • 24 medical establishments;
        • 7 places of cultural heritage;
          • 10 sacred edifices;
            • 269 essential service networks (gas conduits, water conduits, electrical grids).
