In Kyiv, a pair of car wash attendants were apprehended for allegedly stealing $22,500 and €1,700 from a patron’s vehicle. A significant portion of the misappropriated funds were retrieved and given back to the proprietor.

In Kyiv, officers of the law took into custody a duo of car wash personnel on suspicion of pilfering funds from a client’s automobile. The misappropriated currency amounted to $22,500 and €1,700, roughly equivalent to nearly a million hryvnias. The Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv communicated this information, as UNN reports.

As per the inquiry, amidst a nighttime aerial assault, the Kyiv resident gathered all her life savings from her residence and proceeded to the parking area, where she weathered the peril within her vehicle. Subsequently, she brought the car to the car wash, inadvertently leaving the cash in the boot. Following the vehicle’s servicing, she discovered that a portion of the entrusted money had vanished.
“A local individual lodged a theft complaint with the Solomyansk Police Department. The complainant stated that following a visit to a car wash establishment, she noticed approximately a million hryvnias were missing from the trunk of her vehicle. An investigative task force was promptly dispatched to the location to probe the circumstances. Law enforcement representatives ascertained that two employees of the car wash, ages 29 and 33, were implicated in the offense. During their work period, they spotted money within the vehicle’s trunk and elected to seize some of it. Consequently, the accused individuals absconded with $22,500 and 1,700 euros, which they subsequently distributed among themselves,” the police statement detailed.
Authorities detained the pair under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and the majority of the illicitly gained funds were recovered and given back to the rightful claimant, whilst the offenders had managed to expend the remainder.




“Investigators have advised the arrested parties of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – larceny perpetrated during a period of martial law. The most stringent penalty stipulated by the provision of the article entails imprisonment for up to eight years,” the announcement indicates.
