In the Poltava province, the unlawful appropriation of 2.6 million Ukrainian hryvnias of public funds intended for drone acquisitions was detected. Three representatives of the municipality and the firm’s administrator were presented with the suspicion notice and preventative measures were implemented, UNN communicates citing the Prosecutor General's Office.

Prosecutors from the Specialised Prosecution Office for Defence of the Central Region reported suspicions to three representatives of the local government section and the corporation director.

As per the investigation, in 2023, they orchestrated a plan to capture regional treasury funds while buying quadcopters for protective requirements.

Executives performed perfunctory “oversight” of the marketplace, furnished unrealistic cost quotations and technological data for the contest, and dictated purchasing conditions advantageous to a specific business. Ultimately, an agreement was made to procure 90 quadcopters for UAH 14.5 million.

Afterwards, misleading data concerning complete and timely delivery was entered in records, which served as justification for disbursing the total finances. The true expenditure for the tools was significantly reduced. The budget’s shortfalls totaled UAH 2.6 million, stated the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The actions attributed to those suspected were categorized under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 364, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 366, Part 1 of Article 209 of the Penal Code of Ukraine). Preventative steps were given to everyone.
