According to Bild, the lifeless body of the Ukrainian woman was discovered on a park seat within the German capital. As per the newspaper’s reporting, the woman met her demise on Monday evening. A representative from Bild confirmed that law enforcement was alerted at 3:30 a.m., leading to the discovery of the deceased woman “in a public locale.” First responders encountered the 40-year-old woman on a park bench situated in a children’s play area on Altengoferstrasse, located in Berlin’s Lichtenberg district. “She, alongside the entire surrounding area, was saturated with blood,” the newspaper detailed.
Officers from the law detected a person of interest, a 46-year-old, in close proximity to where the crime occurred. He was taken into custody, according to the publication.
The playground area was carefully cordoned off by the 1st Homicide Division of the Berlin Criminal Police Office (LKA) for investigative purposes. They located a backpack and a scarf upon a bench. A thermos and an electronic cigarette were observed lying in the snow. Forensic specialists remained present at the scene until late morning hours, gathering evidence and employing a drone for capturing aerial footage, the publication states.
“According to details acquired by Bild, both the deceased and the presumed perpetrator are Ukrainian citizens. The killing was apparently not random. It is hypothesized that the perpetrator and the deceased were acquainted. The specific dynamics of their association remain under examination,” the publication relays.
In a collaborative statement addressing the circumstances surrounding the death, the prosecutor's office and the police conveyed solely that the woman succumbed to “injuries inflicted upon her upper torso.”
