Zelensky, Sweden’s PM discuss defense support, preparations for NATO summit

President of Ukraine Vodymyr Zelensky has discussed with Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson the situation on the battlefield, issues of defense support and preparations for the Vilnius NATO Summit.

The relevant report was posted on the Telegram channel of President Zelensky flowing his call with Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson, according to Ukrinform.

“We discussed the situation on the battlefield, the latest develments in Russia, and the pace of implementation of previous agreements on defense support from Sweden. We agreed to coordinate efforts to bring NATO membership closer for Ukraine and Sweden,” Zelensky noted.

The President added that he is grateful for Sweden's effective six-month Presidency of the Council of the Eurean Union and its active participation in the preparation of two sanctions packages against the aggressor country.

As reported, on July 1, Spain took over the presidency of the Council of the Eurean Union after Sweden completed its six-month term.
