Zelensky meets with MEPs, thanks EU for EUR 4.2B tranche and support
He said this during a meeting with the president of the Socialists and Democrats Group in the Eurean Parliament, Iratxe Garcia Perez, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"We are very grateful to the Eurean Parliament for directly supporting Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale war. Thank you very much for the fact that the EU has been providing various support, as well as for yesterday's allocation of EUR 4.2 billion to Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility. This was very important for us," Zelensky said.
He added that Ukraine is also anticipating macro-financial assistance from the EU.
"We are also looking forward to receiving EUR 18 billion as a macro-financial loan for Ukraine. Such decisions are vital for us," Zelensky said.
On December 9, the EU Council approved the second tranche of EUR 4.2 billion from the Ukraine Fund, totaling EUR 50 billion, which is part of the EU's multi-annual budget for 2024-2027.
On November 28, the Eurean Union and Ukraine signed a memorandum of understanding, which is necessary for the allocation of EUR 18.1 billion in macro-financial assistance.
