Zelensky discusses food security with Côte d’Ivoire president

On the sidelines of the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland, President of Ukraine Vodymyr Zelensky met with President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire Alassane Ouattara.

“We focused on global food security. Russia's attempts to impede free navigation in the Black Sea threaten the food security of many regions of the world,” Zelensky said in a post on his Facebook page, Ukrinform reports.  

He also thanked President Ouattara for supporting Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty from the first days of Russia’s full-scale aggression, as well as for backing relevant UN General Assembly resutions.

According to the President's press service, Zelensky highlighted the participation of the President of Côte d'Ivoire in the Global Peace Summit and underscored the significance of African countries’ presence and invvement in the Peace Formula.

The leaders discussed the current situation in Ukraine and the security challenges facing Ukraine and Côte d'Ivoire.

The heads of state agreed to coordinate efforts to overcome them and continue bilateral contacts at various levels.

Zelensky invited Ouattara to pay a visit to Ukraine.

As reported by Ukrinform, on June 15, the first Peace Summit kicked off in the Swiss resort of Bürgenstock to discuss nuclear security, food safety and the humanitarian dimension – the exchange of prisoners and the return of abducted Ukrainian children.

On the sidelines of the summit, President Zelensky has already held meetings with leaders of some states, including the United States, Argentina, Georgia, Chile, and Palau.
