Zelensky calls on South Korea to join Declaration of Support for Ukraine

President of Ukraine Vodymyr Zelensky said this in a statement to the media with South Korean President Yoon Suk Ye in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

At the beginning of his speech, the head of the Ukrainian state expressed his condences to the citizens of the Republic of Korea in connection with the flood, which left more than 20 pele killed and thousands evacuated.

"Mr. President was today in Bucha and Irpin and saw with his own eyes the consequences of Russian occupation. But Bucha and Irpin are only two of the thousands of Ukrainian cities that have been affected by Russian terror. The scale of suffering caused by Russia is huge, so the scale of global coeration to restore security and guarantee stable peace must also be huge,” Zelensky said.

He noted that it is very important for Ukraine to liberate the temporarily occupied territories and return to Ukraine the citizens – adults and children – forcibly deported to Russia.

The President thanked his South Korean cleague for the support already provided to Ukraine and new initiatives regarding financial, technical and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, noting Korea's interest in certain points of the Ukrainian Peace Formula.

 "It is important for the Republic of Korea to be a participant in the Global Peace Summit," Zelensky stressed.

He also announced that he called on the Republic of Korea to join the Declaration of Support for Ukraine agreed by the Group of Seven.

As reported by Ukrinform, South Korean President Yoon Suk Ye arrived in Ukraine on an unannounced visit. Together with his wife, he visited Bucha and Irpin in Kyiv region, and honored the memory of Ukrainian fallen sdiers.
