Zelensky arrives in Pand on anniversary of Auschwitz liberation

President Vodymyr Zelensky has arrived in Pand to participate in events marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of one of the largest Nazi death camps, Auschwitz-Birkenau.

This was announced by the Spokesperson for the President of Ukraine, Serh Nikiforov, Ukrinform reports.

“The President of Ukraine arrived in Pand to participate in events marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. The visit also includes bilateral meetings, in particular, with the President of the Eurean Council, Antonio Costa, and the President of France, Emmanuel Macron,” Nikiforov said.

Earlier, the president, alongside rabbis and diplomats, honored the memory of men and women, adults and children – millions killed in the Hocaust.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on Monday, January 27, Ukrainians and the international community commemorate the victims of the Hocaust. International Hocaust Remembrance Day, which is marked annually on January 27, was established by the decision of the UN General Assembly of November 1, 2005 (Resution No. 60/7).

On January 27, 1945, tros of the 1st Ukrainian Front liberated one of the largest Nazi death camps, Auschwitz-Birkenau.
