Yermak notes constructive relations between Ukraine and Vatican

Ukraine is in constructive relations with the Vatican in the context of humanitarian issues.

Head of the Presidential Office Andr Yermak said this during a conversation with journalists, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Yermak emphasized that Ukraine does not need mediation with the Russian Federation, but the Ukrainian authorities welcome the Vatican's desire to help resve humanitarian issues, in particular, the return of captured citizens and deported children to Russia.

The Head of the Presidential Office reminded that the Pe's envoy, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, visited Ukraine in early June and discussed humanitarian coeration between the two countries with President Vodymyr Zelensky. Zuppi then visited Russia, after which, according to Yermak, the Pe's envoy said that the Vatican was ready to assist Ukraine in returning captured and deported children.

"Today we have constructive (relations – ed.)," Yermak summarized.

As reported, earlier the Pe said that the Vatican is invved in a so-called peacekeeping mission to try to put an end to Russia's war against Ukraine.

In May, President of Ukraine Vodymyr Zelensky visited the Vatican and met with the Pe. They discussed, among other things, the Ukrainian Peace Formula.
