White House to announce $200M military aid package for Ukraine on Tuesday – media

As early as August 8, the United States may allocate its latest package of military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $200 million, which will include missiles for the Patriot and HIMARS systems.

That’s according to Reuters, referring to American officials, Ukrinform reports.

The package is expected to include demining equipment, Javelin, TOW and AT4 anti-tank systems, guns and ammunition, Patriot and HIMARS missiles, and other capabilities.

At the same time, it is noted that the new tranche is coming after the Pentagon discovered accounting errors in calculating the Ukraine aid cost in the amount of $6.2 billion. Now this money has become an additional fund to support Ukraine until the moment when Congress approves a new large-scale financial package.

According to U.S. administration officials, the authorities are currently working on a budget request for continued assistance to Kyiv.

As reported, in May 2023, the Pentagon announced it had erroneously estimated the cost of weapons sent to Ukraine at inflated purchase prices. The error benefited the Ukrainian side, as it allowed for the transfer of even more weapons, equipment, and ammunition.
