US Special Representative Witkoff spoke about the trilateral negotiations to end the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine

US Presidential Special Representative for the Middle East Steve Witkoff spoke about the details of the trilateral negotiations between the delegations of Ukraine, the US, and Russia aimed at ending the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine.

Steve Witkoff announced this during a speech at the YES conference, a correspondent for Suspilny reports.

According to Witkoff, during the talks in Geneva, the parties proposed a framework approach to resolving key issues, temporarily leaving aside the issue of territories. The most important element was security protocols from the US and Europe.

“The second important agreement we discussed was the so-called “Prosperity Agreement”. We believe it is important to demonstrate to Ukrainians the potential for industrial and economic development after a peace agreement is reached,” Steve Witkoff explained the details.

Steve Witkoff believes that the American side has managed to “make significant progress, overcome many misunderstandings between the parties” and “start communication between Russia and Ukraine… We see ourselves as a mediator,” Witkoff recalled.

“We have made more progress in the last eight to nine weeks than in the previous four years. I take this as a positive signal and hope that we can continue and build on this success,” concluded Steve Witkoff.

The US special representative also stressed that a peace agreement is impossible without “the confidence of the Ukrainian people that war will never happen again.”

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed a bilateral meeting of the Ukrainian and American delegations, which will take place on February 26 in Geneva, Switzerland. He also said that another round of trilateral talks in the Ukraine-US-Russia format is expected in early March.
