Ukrainian delegation remains in Saudi Arabia for possible further consultations – Leshchenko

This was announced on Ukrainian television by the adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Serhiy Leshchenko, Ukrinform reports.

“In fact, the Ukrainian delegation remains in Saudi Arabia and does not plan to return for now. This is being done in order to hold their own consultations after the negotiations between the US and the aggressor country. These discussions will continue for some time, but they do not necessarily have to end with loud headlines. This is just another round, after which higher-level meetings can take place regarding peace in Ukraine,” Leshchenko noted.

He added that the discussions in Radha are technical in nature and may continue for some time.

“There shouldn't be too much information [about the talks in Saudi Arabia], as these are technical discussions. Negotiations usually don't end in one day; sometimes they take months, and some, like the Middle East peace process, last for years. I'm not suggesting that we draw analogies, but it's important to understand that these meetings will be fairly regular, and not all of them will end in public statements or joint press conferences,” Leshchenko added.

He stressed that the main topics of discussion were infrastructure and maritime security.

“The discussion focused on mutual agreements on a ceasefire: we do not attack their facilities, including river facilities, and they do not strike ours, in particular the ports of Kherson, Nikolaev and Greater Odessa,” Leshchenko said.

He said that the negotiations also touched on the exchange of Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians in the occupied state and in the Ukrainian territories temporarily controlled by it, as well as the return of Ukrainian children.

On March 23, negotiations between the Ukrainian and American delegations concluded in Saudi Arabia.

At the same time, a Russian delegation arrived in Radh on Monday, March 24, for discussions with the US delegation.
