Ukraine’s parliament allows local councils to finance Ukrainian forces
MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak announced this on the Telegram messaging app, Ukrinform reports.
According to the lawmaker, 303 MPs supported Bill No. 9559d at second reading.
The document expands the powers of local self-government bodies to provide financial support to the security and defense sector during martial law or a state of emergency and regulates the procedure for hding their remote meetings.
The law provides for the expansion of the powers of the executive bodies of village, settlement, and city councils for the construction, arrangement, and maintenance of engineering, technical and fortification structures.
The powers to approve local budgets, make changes to them, and approve social-economic and cultural develment programs and target programs were also expanded.
In addition, local councils, executive bodies of village, settlement, city councils and standing deputy commissions will be able to hd remote meetings via videoconference if necessary.
In addition, the law improves the mechanism for appointing a village, settlement, or city head to the position of head of the respective military administration of a settlement (settlements).
