Ukraine declares a curfew from May 5 to 6

Ukraine declares a regime of silence from 00:00 on the night of May 5 to 6 and will act in a mirror manner. According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, as of May 4, Ukraine had not received any official appeals regarding the modalities of the cessation of hostilities, which are being announced on Russian social networks.

“We believe that human life is of incomparably greater value than the “celebration” of any anniversary. In connection with which we are announcing a regime of silence, starting at 00:00 on the night of May 5-6. In the time available until this moment, it is realistic to ensure the onset of silence. We will act in a mirror manner, starting from the indicated moment. It is time for Russian leaders to take real steps to end their war, if the Russian Ministry of Defense believes that it will not hold a parade in Moscow without the goodwill of Ukraine,” the president's message says.

The day before, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced a “truce” from May 8 to 9. The department stated that if Kyiv violates it, the Russian military will retaliate with a massive missile strike on the center of the capital.
