US President Donald Trump has said he is prepared to take tough action against ships approaching Iranian ports under the declared blockade, warning that such ships could be destroyed if they pose a threat or violate established restrictions.
He stated this on his page on Truth Social.
In his statement, Trump emphasized the need to strengthen control in the maritime zone near Iran and warned of possible forceful action against vessels approaching Iranian ports if they violate the stated restrictions.
According to the American president, in case of such violations, the ships can be “immediately destroyed.” He emphasized that these measures are part of a broader strategy to counter threats at sea.
He also noted that the destruction could be carried out using systems that the United States uses to combat illegal maritime transport, including drug trafficking. According to him, these are the same response mechanisms used in counter-smuggling operations.
Separately, Trump emphasized that the warning applies to all vessels that could potentially violate the established restrictions in this region.
On April 11, negotiations were held in Pakistan between representatives of Iran and the United States. They did not agree to end the war because, according to J.D. Vance, Iran refused to shut down its nuclear program and produce nuclear weapons.
After that, Trump announced that the US Navy would begin a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz due to the failure of negotiations with Iran to agree on giving up nuclear weapons. According to Trump, the US Navy would intercept all ships that paid Iran a toll to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
He also warned Iran that if the Iranian military began attacking American warships, the US Navy would “send the Iranians to hell.”
US Central Command announced that US forces will begin blocking all maritime traffic to and from Iranian ports on April 13 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time (17:00 Kyiv time).
