The Presidents of Ukraine and the United States, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump, had a telephone conversation.
Zelenskyy announced this on social media.
According to the president, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were present during his conversation with Trump.
“Our teams are working hard now, and I thanked them for all their efforts and such involvement in the negotiations, in the work to end the war. We talked about the issues that our representatives will work on tomorrow in Geneva at a bilateral meeting, as well as about preparations for the next meeting of the full negotiating teams in a trilateral format at the very beginning of March,” he said.
According to the president, Ukraine expects that the meeting will provide an opportunity to move on to negotiations at the leadership level.
“President Trump supports this sequence of steps. This is the only way to resolve all complex and sensitive issues and finally end the war,” Zelensky said.
He also noted that Ukraine greatly appreciates the PURL program.
“This winter is the most difficult for Ukraine, but the missiles for air defense systems that we can purchase from the United States are very helpful in overcoming all these challenges and protecting lives,” the president noted.
Earlier, Zelenskyy confirmed a bilateral meeting of the Ukrainian and American delegations, which will take place on February 26 in Geneva, Switzerland. He also said that another round of trilateral talks in the Ukraine-US-Russia format is expected in early March.
