Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga said that Ukraine's position on Iran is consistent and regional. According to him, the Iranian regime terrorizes the region, supports and finances terrorist groups that bring destabilization to other countries.
Andriy Sybiga announced this at a briefing on February 28, a correspondent for Suspilny reports.
“We are always on the side of the Iranian people, the people themselves. The Iranian regime has been terrorizing the region for decades, supporting and financing the terrorism of militants who bring instability to other countries, and mocking its own people. Years of systemic human rights violations, brutal repression, executions, and persecution of dissidents testify to a deep crisis in the internal politics of this state,” said Sibiga.
He also noted that the regime in Iran had every opportunity to avoid a forceful scenario, as it was given chances for diplomacy and finding solutions.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine issued the necessary warnings for Ukrainian citizens in advance so that they leave both the territory of Iran and the territory of other countries where their lives and safety may be at risk,” Andriy Sybiga reported.
Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi said that Ukraine also urges citizens not to travel to Israel.
“If you or your loved ones or someone else finds themselves in an emergency situation, there is a threat to your life, there are contact details, contact the embassies, our consular departments. There are contact numbers, hotlines – the consuls will help you. Be sure to immediately signal that something is wrong with you,” said Tykhy.
Heorhiy Tykhyi also called on Ukrainians in Israel and the Persian Gulf countries to follow the instructions of local authorities, respond to air raid sirens, and use shelter.
On February 28, Israel attacked the Iranian capital, Tehran. The attack was supported by the United States, which declared it “Operation Epic Fury.”
US President Trump has accused Iran of “funding and training” militants in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Hamas in Palestine. According to him, the aim of the US military operation against Iran is to “destroy Iran's missile industry, its navy” and “ensure that Iran cannot destabilize the world”.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had launched missiles and drones towards Israel.
“In response to the aggression of the hostile and criminal enemy against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the first wave of large-scale missile and drone attacks by the Islamic Republic of Iran on the occupied territories has begun,” the message says.
