The level of trust in Zelenskyy has dropped to 58% — new KIIS data

The level of trust in President Volodymyr Zelenskyy among Ukrainians in April 2026 is less than 60%. At the same time, the share of those who do not trust the head of state is increasing, and citizens' perceptions of his political future after the end of the war are also changing.

This is evidenced by the results of a survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, which was conducted on April 20-27.

The level of trust in Zelenskyy dropped to 58% in April 2026. In March, this figure was 62%. At the same time, the share of those who do not trust the head of state increased to 36%. Sociologists note that respondents most often cited the following as reasons for distrust:

  • the war and its duration,
  • unfulfilled promises,
  • corruption,
  • personnel decisions,
  • standard of living,
  • mobilization issues.

Separately, KIIS investigated the attitude of Ukrainians to Zelensky's political future after the end of the war. 28% of respondents believe that he should remain president. Another 16% see him as the leader of a political force or a people's deputy, and 30% see him outside of politics and moving to public or other activities. At the same time, 15% of respondents believe that he should face criminal prosecution.

KIIS conducted a survey on April 20-27, 2026 using telephone interviews (CATI). A total of 1,005 Ukrainian citizens aged 18 and over who lived in the territory controlled by Ukraine at the time of the survey were surveyed.

Formally, under normal circumstances, the statistical error of such a sample (with a probability of 0.95 and taking into account the design effect of 1.3) did not exceed 4.1%. Sociologists believe that the results obtained retain a high level of representativeness and allow for a fairly reliable analysis of public sentiment .
