
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that at least seven senior Iranian officials were killed in airstrikes on Iran on February 28. Among them are the head of the country's Ministry of Defense, Aziz Nasirzadeh, and the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Mohammad Pakpour.
This is stated in the IDF statement.
The Israeli military also claims that during the Iranian attack, the following were eliminated:
- Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of Iran's Security Council, who was also an advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei;
- Saleh Asadi is the head of the intelligence department of the Khatam al-Anbiya Emergency Command and a high-ranking intelligence officer of the Supreme Command of the Iranian Armed Forces.
- Mohammad Shirazi is the head of the military bureau of Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, since 1989, who was responsible for relations between the command of the Iranian army of the Armed Forces of Iran and the authorities.
- Hossein Jabal Amelian – head of the country's Defense Innovation and Research Organization, which developed nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons.
- Reza Mozaffari-Nia – former head of the department headed by Amelian.
The IDF added that Israeli and US air forces continue to strike throughout Iranian territory, “based on accurate intelligence information” to protect Israel and the “regional coalition.”
