Over the next six months, roads in Ukraine are to be put in order. Priority works require over 14 billion hryvnias, and they are already in the works.
This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine – Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba during the hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada.
According to him, this winter has been the most difficult for the road industry since the start of the full-scale war.
“Today, the total volume deformation on main roads exceeds 23 million square meters. Priority work worth more than 14 billion hryvnias is already in progress and there is already a work plan,” the minister said.
Kuleba noted that the budget includes 10.8 billion hryvnias for road repairs.
“As I said, in terms of volume, it is almost 23 million square meters. As for financial resources, it is about 32 billion hryvnias. In 2026, the budget includes 10.8 billion hryvnias. Four billion are already allocated for winter maintenance, and about two billion are needed to prepare for the next heating season. Accordingly, about 4.5 billion remain for pothole repairs this year,” he said.
According to the minister, repair work has already begun in some regions this week.
“This is a patchwork repair, but within the next six months I am confident that we will fix our main roads. But the situation is complicated, the problems have been accumulating for years. Most roads have exceeded their repair deadlines by two or more years,” he said.
According to him, the government has decided to seek additional funding.
“It is extremely necessary for us, and we will be doing this throughout the year. As for the warranty repair, of course, it has been done, all contractors have already been informed about it,” Kuleba noted.
