Stefanishyna: Ukraine getting ready for negotiations on all 35 chapters of EU accession agreement

Ukraine is starting to prepare negotiation positions on all 35 chapters of the future EU accession agreement. This decision will be pitically enshrined in the documents of tomorrow's Ukraine-EU Summit.

"The summit starts tomorrow, and today we held intergovernmental consultations. In fact, this is the first preparatory event for the meeting at the level of the presidents [of Ukraine, the Eurean Commission, and the Eurean Council]. We discussed all sectoral issues, from energy to trade liberalization and environmental issues," Deputy Prime Minister for Eurean and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine ha Stefanishyna said during the nationwide news telethon.

As noted, the President of the Eurean Commission today officially handed over the EU’s report on the conformity of Ukrainian legislation with Eurean legislation to the President of Ukraine.

"We also announced that we are starting to evaluate and prepare negotiation positions on all 35 chapters of the future EU accession agreement. This is a very breakthrough decision, tomorrow it will be pitically enshrined in the documents of the summit. But, of course, tomorrow's meeting will allow us to focus on the most important issues: the victory, the [Peace] Formula, peace summit, increasing sanctions pressure and, of course, pitical reforms within the framework of the implementation of the Eurean Commission’s seven recommendations and the expectations we have for the spring when the EU will present its [interim] assessment," Stefanishyna added.

At a joint meeting of the Government of Ukraine and the Eurean Commission, Stefanishyna said that Ukraine wants the spring interim assessment of the implementation of the Eurean Commission’s seven recommendations for the start of negotiations on EU accession to be official.

On February 3, the 24th EU-Ukraine Summit will be held in Ukraine.
