Stefanchuk, Metsa discuss Ukraine’s movement towards EU

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk discussed with President of the Eurean Parliament Roberta Metsa Ukraine's movement towards the Eurean Union.

"The Eurean Parliament is at the forefront of support for Ukraine and was the first among Eurean institutions to seek Ukraine's EU candidate status. Most of the conversation [with the Eurean Parliament President] was devoted to the movement of Ukraine towards the EU," Stefanchuk posted on Facebook.

The Verkhovna Rada Chairman emphasized that despite the full-scale war, Ukraine has done a great deal of work on the implementation of the seven steps defined by the Eurean Commission for the start of negotiations on the country's membership in the Eurean Union. He emphasized that it should be evaluated prerly.

"We are united by a common position: the start of negotiations on EU membership should begin this year," Stefanchuk concluded.

As reported, on February 28, 2022, President Vodymyr Zelensky signed Ukraine's application for membership in the Eurean Union. On June 23, the heads of state and government of the Eurean Union adted a decision to grant Ukraine the EU candidate status.

On March 4, 2023, President of the Eurean Parliament Roberta Metsa expressed he that negotiations on Ukraine's membership in the Eurean Union will begin this year.
