Stefanchuk, Cox talk Ukraine’s Eurean integration

Verkhovna Rada Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk discussed Ukraine’s Eurean integration with President of Jean Monnet Foundation for Eure, former President of the Eurean Parliament, Pat Cox.

That’s according to Stefanchuk’s posting on Facebook.

Stefanchuk thanked Cox for the successful hding of " Jean Monnet Dialogues" in Ukraine late last year.

"I especially emphasized that the Ukrainian parliament is ready to implement legislative changes in the matter of transforming the parliament into a transparent, accountable, and effective legislative institution, in line with the best Eurean practices of parliamentarism," Stefanchuk said.

According to the Verkhovna Rada chairman, special attention was paid to Ukraine’s Eurean integration.

"The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine plays one of the main res in the process. Therefore, I he for a high level of support in the issue of synchronizing Ukrainian legislation with the Eurean one," Stefanchuk emphasized.

He also raised the issue of continued sanctions pressure on Russia. According Stefanchuk the 13th package of sanctions is currently being prepared.

Stefanchuk noted that it is important to introduce such restrictions against the Russian Federation that cannot be circumvented.

"Finally, I called for uniting efforts around continuing assistance to Ukraine – defense, financial, and humanitarian," the parliament speaker noted.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on January 23, Deputy Chair of the Verkhovna Rada, ena Kondratiuk, met with former President of the Eurean Parliament Pat Cox. The parties discussed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy to expand international public focus on Ukraine.
