Since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has caused losses of at least $7 billion to the Russian oil industry — Zelensky

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that since the beginning of 2026, Russia's losses from Ukrainian long-range strikes against the oil industry and refining have amounted to at least $7 billion.

He wrote about this in Telegram.

“According to the most conservative estimates, the aggressor state has lost at least $7 billion since the beginning of the year directly from our targeted sanctions against the Russian oil industry and refining: from strikes, downtime, and delays in shipments,” the president wrote.

According to him, in April, Ukrainian long-range strikes reached a new level in three components: reduction of Russian oil profits, distance, and intensity of sanctions.

“It is important that not only is the facility itself reached, as defined by the combat mission, but also that the facility's downtime is increased or at least its operation is significantly reduced,” the president said.

Zelensky added that Ukraine will continue to scale up long-range systems, and appropriate solutions are already being prepared in this direction.

“I am grateful to all our soldiers of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, who, together with the SBU and our intelligence, ensure this result. We will scale the direction of our long-range systems. We are preparing a solution,” Zelensky added.

Earlier, President Zelenskyy stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' strikes on Russian fuel complex facilities were “mirror” responses to the shelling of Ukrainian energy. He noted that the losses to the Russian budget from such attacks are estimated at “tens” of billions, without specifying in which currency.

On April 29, he also announced that Ukraine would increase the distance for long-range strikes on objects on Russian territory to limit its military potential. According to him, the distance currently exceeds 1,500 kilometers.

And the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, stated that in March 2026, unmanned systems units hit 143 logistics facilities and warehouses of the Russian army, 52 command posts, and 20 facilities of the Russian oil and energy industry.
