NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte will participate in the Munich Security Conference (MSC) on February 14 and 15, 2025. Meetings with leaders of states and members of the US Congress are planned.
This is stated in a message on the NATO website.
“On February 15, the Secretary General will participate in a high-level panel discussion at the MSC on the topic: 'Pay or Loot? NATO, the United States and Transatlantic Security.' During his stay in Munich, Rutte will also hold bilateral meetings with other world leaders and members of the US Congress,” the report says.
Rutte will be accompanied by his deputy, Radmila Shekerinska, at the conference.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that his presence at the Munich Security Conference will depend on the security situation in Ukraine.
At the same time, on February 11, a post appeared on the Munich Security Conference's social media page X, claiming that Zelensky would lead the Ukrainian delegation to participate in the 62nd conference.
Earlier, a representative of the German government told Sospilny that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz will personally open the Munich Security Conference on Friday, February 13, and deliver a speech. After that, he is scheduled to have bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the event, including with US Secretary of State Rubio and Ukrainian President Zelensky.
On February 10, the head of state confirmed Ukraine's participation in the Munich Security Conference, but did not say whether he would be there in person.
Zelenskyy last visited Germany in December 2025. He led a Ukrainian delegation that then held two-day talks with US representatives to further discuss a “peace plan” to end the Russian-Ukrainian war.
The Munich Security Conference has been held in the Bavarian capital of Munich in the winter since 1963. This year's conference will be the 62nd and will run from February 13 to 15.
