Rubio reacts to Russian missile strike on Sumy

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio commented on Russia's attack on the city of Sumy on Sunday, expressing condolences to the families of the victims.

As reported by Ukrinform, he made this statement on the social network X.

“The United States expresses its deepest condolences to all those affected by today's horrific Russian missile attack on Sumy,” Rubio said.

The US Secretary of State added that the incident serves as a “tragic reminder” of why President Donald Trump and his team “are working so hard to stop this war and achieve sustainable peace.”

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on April 13, Russian military launched two ballistic missiles at the central part of Sumy.

According to the State Emergency Service, the number of victims as a result of the Russian missile strike has risen to 34, 117 people were injured, including 15 children.

Earlier on Sunday, US Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg said the Russian strike on civilian targets in Sumy on Palm Sunday “crossed all boundaries.”

US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink also responded to the Russian missile attack on Sumy.
