Putin's Aggressive 'Buffer Zone' Statements Reject Peace Efforts – Sibikha

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha has called for increased pressure on Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin in response to his recent comments about creating a “security buffer zone” along the Russian-Ukrainian border.

The Ukrainian minister reported this in his post on the social network X, as reported by Ukrinform.

“I remind the world that Putin's words about a 'buffer zone' come amid active efforts to achieve a full and lasting ceasefire, end the killings and advance peace,” Sibikha said.

He pointed out that these “new aggressive statements” clearly reject peace initiatives and demonstrate that Putin “is and remains the main reason for the ongoing killings.”

“More pressure needs to be put on him (Putin – ed.) to put an end to this war,” Sibikha emphasizes.

Earlier on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced via video link with government officials his decision to create a “security buffer zone” along the border with Ukraine.

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgy Tykhy noted that Putin's statements about creating a “buffer zone” along the border with Ukraine only confirm that the Kremlin dictator is the main obstacle to peace.
