Norwegian government seeks to increase aid to Ukraine

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced that he intends to approach parliament in the near future with an initiative to increase financial support for Ukraine.

Reuters reports this, as reported by Ukrinform.

“Today I can say that in the near future we will return to parliament with a request for increased support (for Ukraine – editor's note),” Støre said in an interview with Norwegian broadcaster NRK on Saturday.

It is specified that at the end of last year, the Norwegian parliament agreed to allocate a total of 35 billion Norwegian kroner ($3.12 billion) in military and civilian aid to Ukraine in 2025, as well as 155 billion kroner in the period from 2023 to 2030.

On Sunday, 2 March, Støre will meet with EU leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in London.

As reported by Ukrinform, earlier President Zelensky and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre discussed cooperation in the defense industry, focusing on the Ukrainian production of long-range missiles and drones.
