“No obligations.” Tenth country supports Ukraine in boycotting the opening ceremony of the 2026 Paralympics: Germany's statement

Germany will join the boycott of the opening ceremony of the 2026 Paralympic Games due to the admission of Russians and Belarusians to participate in the competitions under their own flags. This was reported on the official website of the German Paralympic Committee.

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has allowed Russians and Belarusians to compete at the 2026 Paralympics under their national flags for the first time in 12 years.

In response to this decision, Ukraine announced a boycott of the opening ceremony – the “blue-yellows” in February announced their intention not to participate in the solemn event in full. Since then, the Czech Republic, Finland, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, the Netherlands and Canada have also joined the initiative.
