Nauseda outlined three urgent steps for the EU to support Ukraine

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda has outlined three urgent steps the European Union should take to increase support for Ukraine.

He posted his appeal on the social network X, Ukrinform reports.

“First, regarding Ukraine: immediately use frozen Russian assets to help the Ukrainian armed forces; allocate 20 billion euros in additional defense aid, as Ursula von der Leyen proposed; discuss the formation of EU peacekeeping forces,” the Lithuanian president noted.

Nauseda also outlined the steps the EU should take.

“Secondly, regarding the EU: Member States must increase investment in defence; significantly strengthen our defence industry; allocate more funds to the portfolio of Andrius Kubilius; implement joint projects with the UK and Norway,” he added.

Nauseda stressed that he would discuss these issues with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on March 2 and with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Tuesday.

“This will lead to the holding of a special Eurasian Council on March 6, at which significant decisions must be made!” he concluded.
