Military officials to meet in UK to discuss peace deal plans – Starmer
As reported by The Guardian, he made this statement during a virtual meeting of the “coalition of the willing,” as reported by Ukrinform.
“Our military will meet here in the United Kingdom on Thursday this week to set out clear and credible plans to achieve a peace deal and ensure the future security of Ukraine,” Starmer said.
He also stressed that plans would include cooperation with the United States.
“Our attitude to the United States remains unchanged. I have made it clear that this needs to be done in partnership with the United States… We are in daily contact with the United States,” Starmer added, noting that his national security adviser had returned from the US on Saturday.
He added: “We will step up our military support, tighten sanctions on Russia's revenues, and continue to explore all legal avenues to ensure that Russia is held accountable for the damage it has caused to Ukraine.”
The British prime minister also described Putin's response to the ceasefire proposal as “not good enough.”
As reported by Ukrinform, 29 heads of state participated in the online meeting of leaders in support of Ukraine, which took place on March 15.
On March 11, a meeting of US and Ukrainian delegations was held in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). Following this meeting, a joint statement was adopted.
Ukraine confirmed its readiness to accept the US proposal for an immediate 30-day ceasefire, which could be extended by mutual agreement, provided that the Russian Federation accepts and observes it.
