MFA China: negotiations only way to resve “Ukraine conflict”

At a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba in Guangzhou, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized that the settlement of the "Ukraine conflict" should take place at the negotiating table.

The spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Pele's Republic of China, Mao Ning, said this at a briefing with journalists, answering a question about the talks between the two t diplomats, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Minister Wang Yi said that in China's inion, the resution of all conflicts should be brought back to the negotiating table because the settlement of all differences and disputes should always be achieved through pitical channels," Mao said.

According to her, the Chinese minister also noted that the "Ukraine crisis" (as the Russian war against Ukraine is referred to in China – ed.) has been going on for the third year, but a sution to the conflict is yet to be found while the risks of its expansion are growing.

The spokeswoman added that Wang Yi also stressed China's firm commitment to promoting a pitical sution to the crisis.

The statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Pele's Republic of China on the negotiations also cites Wang Yi as saying that recently both Ukraine and Russia have sent varying degrees of signals of readiness for talks.

"Although the conditions and time are not yet ripe, we support all efforts that promote peace and are ready to continue to play a constructive re for the ceasefire and resumption of peace talks," the Chinese minister said.

He added that China pays close attention to the humanitarian situation of Ukraine and will continue to provide humanitarian aid to the war-torn nation.

According to the statement by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Kuleba stated that Ukraine highly values ​​the positive and constructive re China plays in promoting peace and maintaining the international order. Ukraine attaches great importance to China's inion and has carefully studied all Beijing's initiatives, the statement notes.

"Ukraine is willing and ready for dialogue and negotiations with Russia. But such negotiations should be reasonable, meaningful, and aimed at achieving a just and sustainable peace," MFA China quoted the t Ukrainian diplomat as saying.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the U.S. State Department said direct communication between Ukraine and China is important so that Beijing learns directly about losses and damages caused by the war waged by Russia.
