Macron welcomes Trump's decision to meet Zelensky and sign rare earth deal

He told the press about this after a conversation with the American president in Washington, reports a Ukrinform correspondent.

“First of all, I welcome your decision to meet with President Zelensky and finalize this important agreement for the United States and Ukraine on critical minerals and rare earth elements,” he said in a conversation with the American leader.

According to Macron, it is extremely important at this moment to exchange views with President Zelensky, as this will demonstrate a joint will to achieve lasting peace.

“The agreement that you intend to sign with Ukraine and the very clear discussion that we have had on this issue, in my opinion, serve as reliable guarantees that we understand each other and that our intentions coincide. To achieve peace as soon as possible, sustainable and lasting for all, and recovery,” Macron emphasized.

He believes that in this way it will be possible to establish responsibility.

“This will give us the opportunity to share responsibility, within this framework the Europeans will take on their obligations together with their American ally, who will also do his part,” the French president said.
