French President Emmanuel Macron announced that the G7 countries have agreed to release their own oil reserves onto the international market. A total of 400 million barrels will be released. All because of the military operation by the US and Israel against Iran.
The statement of the French President is reported by the correspondent of Suspilny.
“We have decided, within the framework of the International Energy Agency and its approximately thirty member countries, to release up to 400 million barrels onto the market, equivalent to approximately 14.5 million barrels of French strategic reserves. This is the maximum volume,” Macron said, adding that this is “a significant intervention in the market.”
At the same time, France and other countries will work to avoid restrictions on energy exports. But President Macron noted that the crisis in the oil market due to the US and Israel's war against Iran cannot be a reason to lift sanctions against Russia.
“This situation should not weaken our attention to Ukraine, our support for Ukraine, or our clear position on sanctions against Russia,” said Emmanuel Macron.
Macron also stressed the need to define clear military and political objectives for the conflict. He said Iran has already suffered significant losses in its ballistic and military capabilities, but continues to attack several countries in the region, and groups affiliated with it are active in Iraq and Lebanon. “US President Donald Trump must clearly define both the ultimate objectives and the pace of operations,” he added.
