Lukashenko signed an agreement on “friendship and cooperation” with Kim during his visit to the DPRK

The leaders of Belarus and North Korea, Alexander Lukashenko and Kim Jong-un, signed a treaty on “friendship and cooperation” between the states.

This was reported by the press service of the Belarusian leader on March 26.

The document was approved during Lukashenko's visit to the DPRK, where he met with Kim.

As the president of Belarus, who is not recognized by a number of countries, stated, the agreement “clearly and openly sets out the goals and principles” of interaction between Minsk and Pyongyang within the framework of future “mutually beneficial processes.” No other details of the agreement are provided.

Lukashenko also noted that relations between the DPRK and Belarus, which “originated during the Soviet Union” and “have never been interrupted,” are entering a “fundamentally new stage,” albeit, he said, with a “great delay.”

“Our economies are complementary, we need each other. And in this direction, we will draw conclusions from the past, from our mistakes. And we will do everything to ensure that relations between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Republic of Belarus are exemplary,” the Belarusian leader said.

Kim Jong-un stressed that both countries strive for “building a multipolar world” and also “hold similar positions on many issues on the international agenda.”

“We oppose the undue pressure on Belarus from the West and express support and understanding for the measures of the Belarusian leadership aimed at socio-political stability and economic development,” the DPRK leader said, expressing “solidarity and full support” to Minsk.

On March 25, Lukashenko, at the invitation of Kim, arrived on a visit to North Korea.
