KIIS: Trust in Zelensky has grown to 68% amid tense relations between the US and Ukraine
This is confirmed by the results of a survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS), as reported by Ukrinform.
“At the beginning of February 2025, before the deterioration of relations between Ukraine and the United States, 57% of Ukrainians expressed trust in President Volodymyr Zelensky, while 37% did not trust him. The balance of trust and distrust was +20%. Then, in the period from February 14 to March 4, 2025, the level of trust increased to 67%, and the share of distrust decreased to 29%. Thus, the balance of trust and distrust improved to +38%,” the KIIS report says.
Sociologists note that the level of trust in the President in different regions of Ukraine is approximately the same.
“Trust in the president is slightly lower in the east of Ukraine, but even in this region the majority supports Zelensky – 60% trust and 36% do not trust. In other regions (west, center, south) the level of trust is 66-69%, and distrust is 28-30%,” the report says.
KIIS Executive Director Anton Grushetsky emphasizes that, at least for now, there is a process of public unification against the backdrop of new challenges facing Ukraine.
“The increase in trust in the President over the past period (while from the beginning of the full-scale invasion until December 2024 it was mostly steadily declining) indicates that we are now seeing ‘rallying around the flag’. Further changes will depend on whether the emotional tension with increased risks persists, or whether there will be a softening and more constructive dialogue (of course, with support for the Ukrainians’ defensive efforts),” Grushetsky noted.
As reported by Ukrinform, on February 28, after harsh statements in the Oval Office, President Volodymyr Zelensky left the White House early along with the government delegation. The “Agreement on the Establishment of Rules and Conditions for the Activities of the Investment Fund for the Reconstruction of Ukraine” was not signed.

On March 4, Zelensky said his meeting with US President Donald Trump on February 28 “did not go as expected.” However, he noted that Ukraine was ready for talks as soon as possible and could sign an agreement on minerals and security at any time.
