In a week, the Russian Federation launched about 1,600 strike UAVs and almost 1,100 KABs and several missiles over Ukraine — Zelensky

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that this week Russian forces have launched about 1,600 strike drones, almost 1,100 guided bombs, and 3 missiles into Ukraine. According to him, the Russians are practically organizing “human safaris” every day in frontline and border communities.

He announced this on May 2.

He emphasized that with such massive attacks, the Russians are trying to overload Ukrainian air defenses.

“Therefore, the supply of missiles is very important every day. And it is equally important that the pressure on the aggressor does not weaken, because any easing of existing sanctions only leads to replenishing the Russian wallet, which they spend on war,” the head of state said.

The president also expressed condolences to all Ukrainians affected and the relatives of those killed after a Russian FPV drone strike on a city bus in Kherson, which occurred this morning.

“All those injured in the attack were civilians, and the Russians understood this for sure. In fact, such a cruel safari on people is happening every day in our frontline and border communities. In Kharkiv, a drone hit a residential high-rise building. There were strikes on the energy sector in the Mykolaiv region. There were also strikes in the Dnipro, Odesa, Sumy, Kherson, and Donetsk regions,” he said.

On the night of May 2, the Russian Federation launched 163 strike drones of various types over Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense neutralized 142 drones. However, as a result of the attack, 17 strike drones were hit at 12 locations, as well as debris falling in two places.

Previously, the presidential commissioner for sanctions policy, Vladyslav Vlasyuk, stated that despite anti-Russian sanctions, new parts manufactured in 2025 continue to be found in the drones used by the Russian Federation to attack Ukraine. According to him, this indicates that Moscow is managing to circumvent restrictions, and therefore it is necessary to increase sanctions pressure.
