Harris VP contender criticizes Vance over Ukraine stance

Sen. Mark Kelly, a contender to be U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate in the presidential election, criticized Republican vice-presidential nominee J.D. Vance for his position on Ukraine.

Kelly spoke in an interview with Pitico on Wednesday, according to Ukrinform.

“It’s pretty clear to me you’ve got JD Vance who wants to totally abandon Ukraine, and you’ve got Donald Trump who has been in the past rather pro-Russia and leaned in with Vladimir Putin in ways I would never expect the president to do,” Kelly said.

He said he would be "really concerned about what those guys would do to abandon an ally in favor of an adversary."

It would be a “much more dangerous world”, Kelly added.

As a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and former Navy pilot, Kelly has been a staunch supporter of Ukraine and has been invved in training Ukrainian F-16 pilots at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in his home state of Arizona.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris announced her intention to run for the presidential post. She has already held phone conversations with at least three potential vice presidential candidates.
