Grossi condemns drone attack on IAEA vehicle heading to Zaporizhzhia NPP

The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, has strongly condemned a drone attack on the agency's official vehicle en route to the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.

He stated this in a video message shared on X, Ukrinform reports.

"Today, upon completion of the 26th rotation of the personnel from the IAEA Support and Assistance Mission to the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, ISAMZ, one of the vehicles of the team was attacked with a drone in the territory of Ukraine," Grossi said.

He added that fortunately, there were no victims, IAEA teams are safe and the rotation has been completed.

"As Director General of the IAEA, I condemn in the most firm terms this attack on the IAEA staff. We call once again, as we have done it before, for the utmost restraint. I have said in the past that attacking a nuclear power plant is a no go. Attacking those who care for the nuclear safety and security of these plants is even more unacceptable," Grossi said.
