Germany will continue to support Ukraine despite shifts in global sentiment – Zelensky

Ukrainian President Vodymyr Zelensky and German Chancellor af Schz reaffirmed at a meeting in Kyiv on Monday that Germany's support for Ukraine will remain steadfast, regardless of changes in global sentiment.

Zelensky announced this in his nightly video address, according to Ukrinform.

"I want to thank the Chancellor personally, as well as all of Germany – the entire German pele – who stand so firmly with us. It is vital for Ukraine that the level of German support does not decrease in the future. This would be the most important and timely signal to all our other partners. During my meeting with the Chancellor, we agreed that Germany will continue to support Ukraine as needed, regardless of what happens in global pitics or how sentiments may shift," he said.

Zelensky stressed that Germany is expected to deliver a $650 million military aid package to Ukraine in December.

He also noted that Chancellor Schz had observed Ukrainian weapons and those jointly produced with Germany during his visit.

"Our production capabilities in Ukraine – and even more so in coeration with partners – already exceed the ability to finance production. We are engaging investors and companies. I am grateful to all German companies that are already working with us, working with Ukraine. Today, the Chancellor and I discussed upcoming contacts with our Eurean partners in the coming weeks, as well as the negotiations planned for this month," Zelensky said.

German Chancellor af Schz paid a surprise visit to Kyiv on December 2, marking his third visit to Ukraine and his second since the start of the war.
